Council Officers and PWID Chairmen,

If you have not turned in your PWID Expense and Check Request form for your completed PWID drive, please do so as soon as possible. The state officers are reviewing grant applications now and we need your reports to be able to fulfill as many grant requests as possible.

Brothers,

As in years past, the State Council will send PWID checks for special Olympics directly to them. If you wish to have the check sent to your council so you can present it, please make a notation on the PWID Expense & Check Request Form.

Brothers,

I have today received the attached letter from Fry’s acknowledging our permission to conduct store front fund raising for our PWID drive.

If you are doing a drive at a Fry’s, please let me know your council number and the Fry’s store number.

Brothers,

I know some of you have had concerns about conducting your PWID drive at the Fry’s locations. I spoke to the corporate offices today and they will send me a permission letter later today.  They will also send it to the individual stores.  However, be assured that we DO have permission to conduct our drive on Oct 5, 6, 7 at any Fry’s store in Arizona. Please do not call the corporate offices about this.

Once I have the letter, I will have it sent out and posted on the web site.  At that time, you should visit the Fry’s store you want to use and let the manager know you will be there.

Fry’s wants me to keep track of which stores we will be using, so if you are planning to use a Fry’s location, please tell me your council number and the store number.  Call the store and find out the number if you do not know.  I do not have a store directory so I cannot do this using a store address. I will also be able to assure that two councils don’t think they have the same store.

Again, if you plan to use a Fry’s store, please notify me (email preferred) with your council number and store number(s).

If you have any questions, please contact me at skpeter@cox.net.

Brothers,

The insurance certificates have been received by the State Council. We have one for general insurance and one additional named insured for Safeway and Wal-Mart. Please use these if you are asked for proof of insurance.

I will ask the Webmaster to file these in the PWID Forms section.

Brothers,

I just learned that Tootsie Roll Industries has increased the cost of Tootsie Rolls this year, the first increase in 11 years. The new price is $19.50 per case. Please use the attached form for all Tootsie Roll orders. The same policy applies regarding minimum orders. Please destroy any old versions of the order form.

Councils can and should combine their orders to avoid paying shipping charges. Since they should be ordered 30 days in advance to assure on-time delivery, you should get your orders in soon.

I have also attached a new Tootsie Roll Apron order form.  While apron costs have not changed, both of these forms are fillable using your computer – you can fill them out and print them.

Thanks to Brother Tim Williams for alerting us to this price change. And thanks to the Colorado Knights for the updated (and fillable) new forms.

If you have already ordered, you may get a phone call from them telling you about the price change.

Brothers,

Bashas’ stores has turned down our request for reconsideration. We will not have a permission letter from Bashas’ for the 2012 PWID Drive. Councils should seek permission from other stores or conduct other fund-raising activities in support of the PWID drive.

Remember, you are not restricted to the October 5-7 dates. We would like for you to complete your drives and submit funds by the end of January.
